What is French Polishing?
French polishing is the age old tradition of restoring and repairing all wood furniture and wood surfaces back to their former glory. It involves the cleaning and sanding back to the original wood and applying a hand polished, lacquered or wax finish.
Difference between lacquered , hand polish and wax finish?
Lacquer is a hard wearing finish mainly for floors, bar counter and hotel and bar furniture. It is applied with brush, roller or spray and is heat and moisture resident.
Hand polishing is mainly for antique furniture and hand rails . It is a shellac based polish that is applied with a lad and worked down into the wood. There is no finish that compares to a hand polished finish and it is easily repaired unlike lacquer.
Wax finish is the modern finish of white wash, grey/white, brown/white and so on. It’s a two tone ultra modern finish used on doors floors bannisters.
